In short

  • Eloine is a combined contraceptive pill, containing both oestrogen and progesterone.
  • Eloine is also a low-dose contraceptive, which means it has a lower level of oestrogen than most other combined pills.
  • This means it can be particularly useful for women who experience oestrogen-related side effects, such as mood swings and acne.

What is Eloine?

Eloine is a combined contraceptive pill, containing both oestrogen and progesterone. Eloine is also a low-dose contraceptive, which means it has a lower level of oestrogen than most other combined pills. This means it can be particularly useful for women who experience oestrogen-related side effects, such as mood swings and acne.

Can you buy Eloine over the counter in the UK?

Eloine is not available over the counter in the UK, it is only available on prescription. However, you can obtain a prescription for contraceptive pills, such as Eloine, from family planning clinics, sexual health clinics and your GP. Eloine is only available on prescription because it can increase your risk of blood clots, so it is important that it is only taken by women without any additional risk factors for blood clots. Once you have been prescribed Eloine, you can get a repeat prescription from an online pharmacy, such as Simple Online Pharmacy.

Alternative Treatments

If Eloine is not suitable for you, you may be able to take the progesterone-only pill instead. This does not carry the same risk of blot clots as combined pills. You could also consider other hormonal treatment options such as the implant, contraceptive injection (Depo-provera), contraceptive patches (Evra), IUS (Mirena coil) and vaginal rings (NuvaRing). Non-hormonal contraceptive options include the copper coil (IUD), condoms, femidoms and the diaphragm.
